Indian Society of Dental Traumatology

The Indian Society of Dental Traumatology is a professional association of dental professionals with an aim to link people from various spheres of dentistry to work together and share knowledge about various aspects of dental trauma management. The main aims are to inspire, innovate and implement. Dental Trauma management requires an extensive knowledge of several fields in medicine and dentistry.

Vision

To establish an organisation of global standing that seeks to create awareness about traumatic dental injuries both among professionals and the general public, promote innovation in education, develop newer methods of treatment through patient centered relevant research and implement the delivery of high quality clinical care in prevention & management of traumatic dental injuries.

Mission

"To establish an effective platform to educate, train, and bring together dental professionals, general public, healthcare workers, educators, and policymakers for the prevention and optimal management of dental trauma in India."

It strives to:

  • Reduce the burden of dental trauma through early intervention and prevention.
  • Provide accessible educational resources in multiple languages for different communities.
  • Enhance emergency preparedness in schools, sports academies, and public spaces.
  • Advocate for policy inclusion of dental trauma care in national health programs.

Aims & Objectives

The ISDT is committed to improving awareness, prevention, and management of dental injuries across India. Its key aims include:

  • Promote knowledge, education, and awareness about dental trauma among dental professionals, medical personnel, teachers, parents, and the general public.
  • Establish and promote scientific guidelines for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental trauma.
  • Conduct training programs, workshops, and conferences for dentists and non-dental personnel involved in emergency management.
  • Encourage and support research related to dental trauma and its long-term management.
  • Create state-wise and national trauma health service to collect data and improve patient care.
  • Foster collaboration with international organizations, especially the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT).
  • Develop public health programs, including school-based and sports-based awareness initiatives.
